My makeup bag is filled to the brim of every type of mascara you could imagine. I have some for volume, volume+length, wide-eye, cat eye, you name it…even blue! The one thing I was looking for in my collection of mascaras that wasn’t accomplished with any of them was a great lengthening mascara.
I don’t have much trouble with volume on my lashes, especially once I get a coat or two slapped on. But I could never achieve the length I wanted. I was looking for a more stretched out, fanned out, feathered and separated lash with a dark pigment and the same ability to volumize as its counterparts. And I finally found the one!
Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length mascara by Maybelline New York, Waterproof in Very Black- $8.29, Ulta
After reading it’s reviews on Pinterest, I found this at Ulta for a really good price and decided to give it a shot. It made a massive difference! I was actually getting the length I had been searching for! It makes for much longer lashes than any other mascara I’ve tried. It does have a thick, more liquid based formula, so be sure to really clean off the wand before applying anything. I just use the top of the mascara container to wipe the excess off, that way I’m not wasting the product. I’ve heard “just when you think you’ve cleaned the wand of excess product completely, keep cleaning.” Once your top lashes are nice and coated, use any left over mascara on the wand to do your bottom lashes. After the mascara is on, to keep the lashes separated, I wait about a minute to let them dry (usually they’re drying while I do my other eye) and then I use this baby!
Tweezerman Folding I-Lash Comb-$12, Ulta
BEWARE! This sucker is sharp! It does an incredible job at separating the lashes and combing out any clumps left behind. Having purchased and tested other lash combs before, they didn’t do the job nearly as well as Tweezerman’s. Don’t get it too close to your eye or lash line though, as the teeth on this comb are almost surgically pointed and very sharp. Even placing it directly on your finger and pressing down can cause it to go through your skin. But that’s why I like Tweezerman; they never fail to give you exactly what you’re looking for, even to an extreme.
If you already have a mascara you’re in love with, but you’re not quite getting that sky high length, I suggest giving this one a shot…
e.l.f. Mascara Primer-$3.29, Target
It goes on translucent, can be worn under any mascara, and really works at adding the length before you apply your first coat. And for just around $3, who could complain?!
Sure, you could pay upwards of $150 every two to three weeks for falsie extensions…OR you could try these tips! Give these a go and tell us what you think. In no time, you, too, will have lashes with length that cannot compare! Enjoy, dolls!
